A Fleet of Fancies 1999 nail enamel on saucers variable arrangements |
'In Susan Fereday's A Fleet of Fancies at Sutton Gallery, brightly painted crockery is attached to the wall in clusters with titles recalling the landmarks of modernist art history. The allusions to Matisse, Picasso, Pollock and Warhol are maliciously funny, suggesting that the modern masterpieces are no more aesthetically powerful than the tableware on which the paints were mixed.'
